The North West ACB Summer Scientific Meeting will be held on Wednesday 11th June at Salford Royal Hospital.

Please click here for the current programme

Please click here for a map of Salford Royal Hospital.

Utilising the expertise of Salford Royal Hospital as a national renal centre of excellence, we have four high profile speakers scheduled for the meeting:

Professor Donal O'Donoghue, the previous National Clinical Director for Kidney Care, will be summarising the soon to be updated NICE guidelines on CKD and why we should be moving towards the CKD-EPI equation and Cystatin C measurements. Following this, Professor Phil Kalra, Chair of the National Renal Clinical Trials Speciality Group, will review current knowledge and clinical/laboratory failings in the monitoring and management of patients with CKD mineral and bone disorder.

For those who don't know their ANCA from their elbow, Ed O'Riordan will be giving an overview of the often overlooked topic of autoimmune renal disease. Finally Rob Nipah, Chair of the National AKI Working Group, will describe the clinical management of AKI and provide a clinician's perspective on requirements of effective AKI laboratory alert systems.

This promises to be a very topical and informative meeting, and as usual is completely free! Please notify me by Friday 30th May if you are planning to attend by direct reply to Ed Hinchliffe (address in handbook) to ensure appropriate catering arrangements can be made.

A Special General Meeting (SGM) will follow the summer scientific meeting to discuss the following:
